Colossians 3:18-19 says, “Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them,” implying that husbands are to be the spiritual leaders of the home. But what’s a wife to do when she wants to be obedient to this scriptural mandate–when she wants to submit–but her husband doesn’t seem to want to lead? Perhaps he leads but doesn’t lead well. Maybe she feels he’s too passive. Or worse yet, his leading isn’t very Christlike and appears to be taking his wife and kids in an unbiblical direction.
What’s a wife to do?
